QC Seed Vault
The Quail Cottage Seed Vault started by saying “hey, I can buy a packet of seeds for $5, or … a pound of seed for $11??” So we followed the economics of scale.
Seeds are stored in a temperature & humidity monitored fridge (average 42.6F & 15.6% RH as I write). We buy seeds in bulk when financially easy and store extras in the Vault, sharing with family, friends, schools, and libraries. Please reach out if you’d like to share the bounty; we’re happy to give and normally have a wealth of seed. If you’d like to donate seeds, it’s best to donate recently purchased excess seed, or funds to support the purchase of commercial seed from known suppliers. We generally don’t store locally harvested seed as our focus lies in publicly known varieties for our community outreach.
